Zom Connection is on a mission to empower grassroots initiatives in the remote mountain regions of Northern Pakistan by providing them with outdoor gear and guidance

What we do
Equipment Provision

Each year, we collect and ship 3-4 tonnes of repurposed gear from Europe to Pakistan, thanks to the support of our incredible partners and crowdfunders.
Mountain and safety education boot camps, inclusive acclimatizations

To generate positive and lasting impact, we have catalyzed the emergence of a strong and beautiful community of outdoor enthusiasts:
Environmental Protection
28 associations were started in Pakistan and are now Zom Connection Affiliate Organizations, through which our equipment and programs are distributed
Select members of the community are invited to join our annual Inclusive Acclimatizations as part of professional expeditions as athletes or production staff (photo, video, medic, etc.)
Aspiring ski and snowboard instructors are invited by Zom Connection to attend training and obtain an official Ski/Snowboard Instructor Certificate, in partnership with the Malam Jabba Ski Resort
— GHG footprint
Since 2025, we measure our GHG footprint and are currently seeking for effective ways of reducing our emissions, increasing carbon removals and compensating remaining emissions on the ground
— Gear maintenance
We encourage our Affiliate members to manage their environmental impact responsibly by repairing our equipment or bringing it back to Islamabad for cleaner disposal when it can’t be fixed
— Mountain clean-ups
We ask our Affiliates to organize regular Mountain clean-up events in their local area

Extreme Ski Club promotes adventure sports, focusing on skiing, snowboarding, and outdoor mountain activities. We organize training sessions, trips, and community events that encourage physical fitness, teamwork, and environmental awareness. Our aim is to create safe, inclusive opportunities for youth and adults to experience the thrill of skiing and related activities while promoting respect for nature and cultural exchange. As part of Zom Connection, we continue to expand our outreach programs, strengthen partnerships, and support sustainable adventure tourism in local and international communities

We joined Zom Connection in 2023, and now we are starting our third skiing season. With Zom Connection’s support, we received professional training at Malam Jabba Ski Resort. Today, we are teaching the people of our region, especially the youth, to learn skiing and develop snow sports in Kalam. Our focus is on building local skills, promoting winter tourism, and creating new opportunities for the community.

Shimshal Ski Club was founded in 2008 with a simple mission: to introduce young people in the Hunza region to skiing and winter mountain sports. The initiative began after its founders set a national record by skiing from a 6,000-meter peak, inspiring them to share their skills with the youth of Shimshal.
Despite limited resources and very little equipment — often purchased with their own student savings — the team continued to grow. Over time, Shimshal Ski Club expanded its training programs beyond Shimshal, reaching young athletes across Gojal, Hunza, Chitral, Gilgit and even Sindh.
Today, thanks to the support of partners such as Zom Connection, the club has been able to acquire proper skiing and climbing gear. In addition to ski training, the team now teaches ice climbing and continues to make mountain sports accessible to new generations in Pakistan.
